Act leader Rodney Hide today called for a parliamentary inquiry into TVNZ.
His call came after the state broadcaster was rocked by a series of revelations in recent months.
Presenter Judy Bailey is leaving One News, chief executive Ian Fraser has resigned citing a loss of confidence in the TVNZ board and an attempt to cut Susan Wood's salary has been dragged through the Employment Court.
Mr Hide said he had written to Parliament's finance and expenditure select committee asking for an inquiry.
He said: "We have had the CEO quit but stay on full pay. We have had a very damaging court case with Susan Wood that TVNZ lost. The ratings slide, taxpayer value is lost, and yet no one from the Government appears at all concerned.
"TVNZ is demoralised and directionless. It's the proper role of the finance and expenditure select committee to take an interest on behalf of the public of New Zealand in the investment and ongoing funding taxpayers provide to TVNZ."
Mr Hide said he wanted the inquiry to take place before Christmas.
The National Party has also indicated it will seek a parliamentary inquiry into TVNZ, but has not yet asked for one.
