A former St Matthew's Collegiate student, Mrs Burkhart went on to study Fashion Design and Technology at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic. She graduated from her class with Supreme Designer and from there launched her own brand.
"I've just always wanted to, I was just waiting for the right time," she said.
Mrs Burkhart said she is hoping fashion week will help give her label more exposure.
"I'm just looking forward to maybe a bit more exposure and branching out to a few more stores and it's local, it's quite good to be involved with something like that.
"I'm looking forward to networking with other designers that are passionate about clothes, like-minded other independent women who have started a brand from scratch," she said.
Her label is currently stocked in stores around both the North and South Island and she also has a potential stockist coming up in Sydney.
"I've had good feedback and I seem to pick up more stockists each season," she said.
In Wairarapa her clothing can be found at Lennox Design Studio in Masterton and Invest Boutique in Greytown.
She is also looking at expanding to an online store at some point.
Mrs Burkhart describes her brand as quality pieces that are trans-seasonal.
"Things that you can wear effortlessly and walk out of the house and feel good about yourself."
Mrs Burkhart will be displaying her spring/summer range for 2013/2014 which will hit stores in September.
