The hero Sikh who removed his turban to help a seriously injured young boy has been recognised for his act of "outstanding compassion and empathy".
Harman Singh received a certificate of appreciation from the Counties Manukau District Commander for his actions.
Mr Singh rushed to help Daejon Pahia, after the 6-year-old boy was struck by a car on Manuroa Rd while walking to Takanini School on May 15.
A photo of the scene, where Mr Singh broke Sikh religious protocol by removing his turban to cradle the boy's bleeding head, touched millions of people around the world.
Daejon suffered serious head injuries and internal injuries.
