Hundreds of dogs - from tiny handbag pooches like Bindy the 1-year-old chihuahua to horse-sized pets - and equally diverse owners took a stroll in the sun on the North Shore yesterday.
Up to 3000 people and 1400 dogs took part in the Champ Wag 'n' Walk in Devonport, where pets and owners enjoyed a 3.5km ramble around North Head.
Some owners turned up dressed in full costume - looking like their canine companion - while many children had their faces painted like their pup.
Other activities at yesterday's event included a dog and owner lookalike competition, a dog talent contest, live dog shows and a dog and owner food-eating relay.
Organiser Scott Rice said the event, which has been running for three years, brought enthusiastic dog owners to one place.
"The most rewarding aspect of previous years has been the pure enthusiasm of the owners for this event - many of whom dressed up like their pooches to get into the spirit of the day."
Here's lookin' at you, kid
