The Herald on Sunday has become Auckland's most read Sunday newspaper after less than a year on the market.
The Nielsen Media Research survey for the six months to the end of June put the paper's Auckland readership at 217,000 people aged 10 and over. The paper's total readership was 349,000.
The Herald on Sunday has achieved its two launch objectives.
It has not only gained the number one position in the Auckland Sunday market, but it has also increased Sunday newspaper readership in Auckland by 30 per cent on the same period last year.
The paper's publisher, Rick Neville, said the results were testament to the outstanding work of the Herald on Sunday team to produce a paper relevant to readers in Auckland and beyond.
"The Sunday market is highly competitive; it's crucial we continue listening to our readers, and make it an even better newspaper."
APN National Publishing chief executive Ken Steinke is pleased with the results for the Herald's stable of newspapers.
"Readership across seven days for the New Zealand Herald, the Aucklander and the Herald on Sunday has reached 1.2 million during this period and our titles are read by 75 per cent of Aucklanders every week."
