The Herald on Sunday's new editor will be leading Auckland journalist Miriyana Alexander.
Alexander, currently the head of news for Fairfax Media in Auckland, will take over in November. A journalist for 24 years, she has spent much of that time in the Sunday newspaper market, and will be this paper's fourth editor.
"I'm excited and honoured to be joining a newspaper in such great heart," she said in reference to the Herald on Sunday's strong readership and circulation performance. "And I'm looking forward to working with the Herald on Sunday team to continue delivering top-notch journalism to our readers."
Alexander is a former Qantas Reporter of the Year and deputy editor of the Sunday Star-Times, where she also edited the business section and oversaw the news and features sections.
The Herald on Sunday won the award for Sunday Newspaper of the Year for Australia and New Zealand at the Panpa news media conference in Sydney last month.
