Hastings professional golfer Andrew Henare spent last year working in the mining industry in Australia but he is back home to play.
This was clearly evidenced by his nine birdies and one eagle, winning with a stunning 10 under par 62 in the Jimmy Napier Martinborough Classic on Tuesday.
Henare was seven under par through his first nine holes, starting his round from the ninth.
A clumsy three-putt on the 18th, his 10th hole, was his only blemish, playing his last eight in four under par without birdieing either of the two par five holes.
Richard Lee from North Harbour and Grant Moorhead of New Plymouth shared second, albeit four shots back of Henare on 66.
