Police are hoping a sketch will help identify a man who snatched a security guard's bag with a large amount of cash in the Wellington yesterday.
The guard was left shaken yesterday in the suburb of Newtown when a man ran off with his bag containing a substantial amount of money.
The guard was leaving the TAB on the corner of Riddiford and Donald McLean Streets about 11am when the bag was snatched.
There were a number of people near the TAB at the time of the incident, even though it was closed at the time.
Police spokeswoman Victoria Davis said police were speaking to witnesses today and hoped to release a picture of what the offender looks like later today.
"We are really hoping for help from the public to find this man."
Anyone with information or who might have seen the offender was asked to contact police.
The man was described as a light-skinned Maori or Pacific Islander, aged in his 20s, of medium build and about 1.8m tall.
He was wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans, black and white sneakers and a dark coloured cap with a wide brim.
