Christchurch red zone homeowners will receive government funding for their hazardous household waste disposal.
The Government will provide over half a million dollars from its Waste Minimisation Fund.
Environment Minister Nick Smith says with more than 6,000 properties in the red zone, it's important that any hazardous household materials such as cleaning products, paint, LPG, and garden sprays are dealt with in a safe way.
A free drop off service will be provided to residents.
