Police have released the name of a Waikato farmer killed when his farmbike and a car collided southeast of Matamata yesterday.
He was 23-year-old Bryan George Fraser.
Mr Fraser was not wearing a helmet when he crossed into the path of an oncoming vehicle on Kakahu Road about 2.45pm, said Matamata Sergeant Graham McGurk.
"A crash helmet would have saved him, I believe," said Mr McGurk.
The driver of the car and the passenger, a father and son, were distraught, he said.
The police serious crash unit and the Department of Labour were investigating.
