A man in his mid-30s was flown to hospital today after reportedly flipping and being run over by his quad bike.
A St John spokesman said several members of the public called emergency services.
The Lowe Rescue Helicopter was called to Raupunga in Hawke's Bay at 1.15pm after the man was run over by the bike near State Highway 2.
The man had moderate leg injuries and was flown to Hawke's Bay hospital in a serious condition.
