A man who saw a helicopter fly over his property before it crashed between Te Aroha and Matamata says it looked like it was struggling.
Two people walked away from the crash with just minor scratches after their helicopter crashed this morning.
Emergency services were called to Te Aroha-Gordon Rd at Manawaru shortly after 11am.
Brian Rooney told the Herald he was checking on his electric fences on his farm when he saw the chopper fly over.
"I thought they were in trouble. It was up quite high and I thought shit, that didn't sound right. It was flying really funny. The tail piece was sort of waving around."
