KEY POINTS:
A helicopter has collided with powerlines near Rolleston in Canterbury.
Inspector John Doherty said the helicopter was aerial spraying when it collided with the powerlines at about 8.30 last night.
He said the powerlines came down across the road and the helicopter landed safely before taking off again.
Mr Doherty said police have spoken to the pilot and the incident had been referred to the Civil Aviation Authority.
