Prime Minister Helen Clark has arrived in India for the first visit there by a New Zealand prime minister in nearly 20 years.
Miss Clark flew into New Delhi in the early hours of Sunday morning (local time) and was later due to travel to Agra and the Taj Mahal.
She was then due to head to Bangalore, to visit major economic centres.
During her Indian visit, Miss Clark will meet the president, the prime minister and the leader of the ruling Congress Party.
A delegation of businesspeople from the information and communication technology sector, as well as Ombudsman Anand Satyanand, Families Commissioner Rajen Prasad and Labour MP Ashraf Choudhary, are accompanying her.
Miss Clark stops in Singapore for a day on her way back to New Zealand, arriving home on Friday.
