KEY POINTS:
About six trucks were trapped on the northern side of the Lindis Pass in Otago overnight due to heavy snow fall.
A southern police communications spokesman said Transit New Zealand would likely today be clearing the road between Omarama and Cromwell and pulling the trucks out.
The drivers were all safe, he said.
Meanwhile, MetService has lifted strong wind warnings for Hawkes Bay to Wairarapa between Napier and Featherston.
Patches of heavy rain continued to cross the Auckland region early this morning but no weather warnings were issued.
