Heavy rain is on the way for Westland and Fiordland.
MetService warns that up to 160ml could fall in the Westland Ranges and 120ml in Fiordland tomorrow morning, particularly around the Milford Sound.
MetService forecaster Oliver Druce said Northwesterlies should strengthen over the South Island today and a cold front is approaching from the Tasman Sea.
Mr Druce said people in Westland and Fiordland should keep an eye out for rapidly rising rivers and streams.
