Downpours and isolated thunderstorms are about to strike Auckland as a storm system moves south over the city.
Weatherwatch.co.nz said the downpours will make driving hazardous and could cause flash flooding in streams and flood drains.
Suburbs around Albany and the eastern coastline of the city would be particularly at risk from the rain band, it said.
The system was expected to pass by 3pm.
