Heavy rain is forecast to pelt much of the country tomorrow.
The MetService has issued a heavy rain warning and said most of the rain would fall in the upper North island and the north and west of the South Island.
The rain, sweeping across the country from a low on the Tasman Sea, would be followed by strong north or northeast winds.
The heaviest falls would hit the ranges of northwest Nelson, Mt Taranaki, Tongariro National Park and the Kaimanawa Mountains and the ranges of the eastern Bay of Plenty.
People in those areas should be aware slips were possible and waterways may rise quickly, the MetService said.
