In Langholm, in Auckland's west, 147 households were without power from 2.30am. In Kaipara Flats, 111 customers were left without power this morning after a feeder fault at 8pm yesterday.
Police urged caution today on Waikato and Coromandel roads, with rain and wind bringing down trees and causing surface flooding.
Heavy rain around the Kaimai Range had caused surface flooding on State Highway 29 and left debris on the road, police said.

There was also a chance that low-lying roads or those near rivers could have surface flooding.
Senior Sergeant Rupert Friend said motorists were encouraged to stay off the roads if possible.
"If it is possible to postpone your travel until after the weather blows through then please do."
All roads were currently open, but care was needed, he said.
Northern police communications Inspector Kerry Watson said police had attended a diesel spill near Duck Creek in Coromandel just after 5pm today.
The spill was covering 20km of road, making it slippery, and motorists were advised to take care, Mr Watson said.
There were also reports of an overturned kayak in a swollen river near Karangahake Gorge on SH2, Mr Watson said.
"We think at this stage it has come off a mooring and there is no one involved, but if anyone knows anything about it we would appreciate a phone call."

Despite the bad weather, the Fire Service said there had not been any weather-related emergency calls today.
The MetService earlier warned Coromandel, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Nelson could expect heavy rain and potential thunderstorms.
Meteorologist Nicole Ranger said the heaviest falls today were in the Coromandel Peninsula, which had seen as much as 150mm of rain.
"They have really been in the firing line," Ms Ranger said.
The Bay of Plenty had received its fair share of rain, especially in Whakatane, which received 32mm in the last hour, along with thunderstorms.
Ms Ranger said while these areas could still expect plenty of rain tonight, the end was in sight.
Auckland experienced 48mm of rain over the last 24 hours, as well as its fair share of thunderstorms. However, the weather was clearing and tomorrow looked like a much better day, said Ms Ranger.
"It's still going to be pretty cloudy but they will just have a little bit of drizzle in the morning," she said.
WeatherWatch also said the worst of the miserable weather had passed.
"The low responsible is now south of Auckland and tracking away from the city."
It said the worst of the rain and thunder was now tracking into the Bay of Plenty and Coromandel, but isolated thunderstorms with torrential rain remained over parts of Auckland region.
Tomorrow was likely to be warmer, sunnier and more humid, WeatherWatch said.
