The flatmate of a Kiwi man accused of attempting to smuggle $250,000 worth of methamphetamine into London's Heathrow Airport was shocked to learn of his arrest.
Paul Da'Silva, 57, was arrested by UK Border Force officers on Thursday (NZ time) after arriving on a flight from Dubai, a spokesman said.
They found about 2kg of methamphetamine hidden inside luggage with more found concealed inside a Sony PlayStation, laptop computer and other electrical items.
Da'Silva is from Auckland's North Shore.
His 26-year-old flatmate, who would not be named, told the Herald on Sunday he had dropped Da'Silva off at the airport last Sunday and was supposed to pick him up next Sunday.
