The Heathcote River has breached its banks in some areas as heavy rain causes flooding in Christchurch this morning.
The Christchurch City Council said it has received reports of road congestion and minor flooding this morning, and is advising people to be vigilant on the city's quake-damaged roads.
Heavy rain overnight lead to the Heathcote River breaching its banks in parts of Bowenvale and Eastern Terrace.
The council said it is monitoring the situation but is hopeful the flooding will ease as the weather clears.
