The Heart Foundation has launched its annual appeal, this year focusing on the impact of heart disease and strokes on the families of victims.
The foundation says cardiovascular disease is the single biggest killer of men and women in New Zealand and accounts for around 40 per cent of all deaths.
On Friday, the foundation will take to the streets to try to raise more than $300,000 to help fund research, promote healthy lifestyles and advance cardiac rehabilitation.
Donations can also be made via the Heart Foundation's website, at any Westpac branch or Amcal and Unichem stores ,or by calling 0800 830 100.
