KEY POINTS:
A depositions hearing for a 14-year-old boy charged with the murder of Scottish backpacker Karen Aim will be held in September.
The case was called in the Rotorua Youth Court today. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also faces charges of aggravated robbery and intentional damage.
Judge Denise Clark set down the week-long depositions to be held in the Taupo District Court starting September 1.
The case would be called again on July 8 at 10am in the Taupo District Court for the depositions hearing to be reviewed. The teenager's appearance was excused at that hearing.
Bill Lawson appeared for the teenager today and Amanda Gordon appeared for the crown.
The boy, whose appearance was excused today, remains in the custody of Child Youth and Family.
Karen Aim was murdered while walking home after a night out in Taupo on January 17.
She was in New Zealand on a working holiday.
