KEY POINTS:
Depositions have started for a teenager charged with manslaughter following the death of another teen in an LPG explosion in a car in Blenheim last year.
Tristian Ceciel Grant Beckett, 19, has pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter of Thomas Kelson Hillman, aged 18, of Picton, who was killed last October when the car five teenagers were in exploded.
At the time police said some in the group were sniffing LPG from a portable gas bottle and it appeared someone had tried to light a cigarette.
The depositions hearing in Blenheim District Court is expected to go for three days.
