Disgruntled health workers plan to continue strike action in the New Year as negotiations with district health boards fell through.
Several hundred staff walked off the job for a couple of hours last month in Auckland, Waitemata and Counties Manukau.
The action was in protest of what was described as an "over-stretched workforce" that's putting the patients at risk. The DHBs claimed the allied workers union had not signalled an issue.
Discussions after have failed to reach an agreement.
According to a Public Service Association spokesman 97 per cent of its workers, which included social workers, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, have rejected a new contract proposed by the DHB.
