Health officials should know today which strain or strains of potentially deadly meningococcal infection caused two Northland babies to be taken to hospital.
Both cases involve 1-year-old boys, with no known link between them.
The first baby, from Bream Bay, was rushed to Auckland's Starship hospital in a critical condition, where he remains.
The second was admitted to Whangarei Hospital.
