Health Minister Jonathan Coleman has bowed to pressure to taste test controversial new meals at Dunedin Hospital, but without media present.
Dr Coleman, who is in Dunedin today, has altered his schedule to fit in the taste testing.
However, media were told they could not attend.
Labour's health spokeswoman Annette King has challenged Dr Coleman to sample the meals.
The Government is under fire over the Dunedin Hospital meals, which are controversially provided by multinational provider Compass Group.
