Healthlink South's former chief executive Jane Parfitt has joined the golden handshake club, receiving $265,000 on resigning from her job.
She quit last month, three weeks after the announcement of Healthlink South's planned merger with Canterbury Health.
Replying to a request under the Official Information Act, Healthlink South said its board had unanimously agreed to pay the $265,000. Mrs Parfitt was one year into a three-year fixed-term contract worth around $220,000 to $229,000 a year.
Mrs Parfitt could not be contacted for comment last night. But Healthlink board chairman Gill Cox said the sum was "significantly within her entitlement had that contract continued to completion."
