KEY POINTS:
The Serious Fraud Office has brought charges of fraud against dismissed former Otago District Health Board chief information officer Michael Swann and business associate Kerry Harford involving sums totalling almost $16.9 million.
They are accused of using invoices addressed to the Otago District Health Board with intent to defraud.
Swann, 45, of Dunedin, was dismissed for "gross mismanagement" by the health board in October last year.
Harford, 46, a surveyor, lives in Queenstown. A large number of assets, including land, properties, vehicles and boats, were frozen under court order after Swann's dismissal.
