KEY POINTS:
Four people are dead and at least two people are badly injured following a road accident south east of Auckland.
The accident, a head-on collision between a four wheel drive and a car, happened at 12.30pm about 3kms north of Clevedon.
Police say the damage to the car is so extensive they cannot confirm the number of people who were traveling in the vehicles.
North Road at Clevedon is expected to be closed for some time as police and emergency services tend to the accident.
The accident brings the Easter road toll to five following a motorcycle crash in Glenfield, Auckland early this morning.
