Two senior school sports games on Auckland's North Shore have been rescheduled to let friends of a Long Bay College student attend his funeral today.
Torbay 17-year-old Quinn Wise, who died suddenly last Sunday, was described by Long Bay principal Russell Brooke on Friday as "a lovely boy" whose death was being mourned widely by the school community.
He said the college was grateful to other schools for agreeing to reschedule football and netball matches, so Quinn's friends could attend his funeral at 11am at Long Bay Baptist Church in Torbay.
That included the season final of a premium grade netball competition, which Long Bay College was to have played against Westlake Girls' High School at North Harbour.
Mr Brooke, who will be joined by a number of Long Bay teachers in attending Quinn's funeral, said the year 12 student had attended the school throughout his secondary education.
