A man whose body was found outside a block of flats in Palmerston North last week has been identified as Samuel Peter Culling.
Police were called to the Taieri Court units at 7.30am on Thursday after a member of the public discovered the body.
A post mortem carried out yesterday revealed the 26-year-old died a violent death.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan believed Culling had died somewhere else and his body was transported to Taieri Court.
"The scene examination has yielded some valuable information. It is possible that Samuel may have been killed at an unknown location," he said.
"We need anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the West St area between 10pm on Wednesday August 5, and 7am on Thursday August 6 to contact Police."
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
