Police are now searching a new cemetery, 400 metres from the graveyard where they found human remains on Tuesday during their hunt for the body of missing Christchurch teenager Hayden Miles.
Specialist officers are working inside two police tents erected over a row of graves at Memorial Park Cemetery, across the road from Ruru Lawn Cemetery in the Linwood area.
Private security guards are refusing entry to the cemetery and a large area is cordoned off.
A fire appliance, urban search and rescue vehicles, police cars and plain-clothed detectives are at the scene.
Police are making no comment at this stage.
