An inspired spell of medium pace bowling by Turkey Red Greytown's Daniel Haxton ensured his team were comfortable winners of their More FM Cup Twenty20 final with Flight Centre Lansdowne at Queen Elizabeth Park oval in Masterton on Sunday.
Needing 171 to win when they batted second on a pitch which appeared to be batter friendly Lansdowne were going along well enough until Haxton was brought into the attack.
Then things changed dramatically in Greytown's favour, as evidenced by his figures of 4-22 from his 4 overs.
Aiding and abetting Haxton in ripping the heart out of the Lansdowne innings was Brian James whose 3.2 overs cost him just 16 runs and he picked up 3 wickets for his troubles.
In all the Lansdowne reply lasted only 11.2 overs and they were all out for 80 with only Jamie Holmes and Sam Curtis threatening to make a name for themselves.
