An armed alert in Waipukurau in central Hawke's Bay is over after a man handed himself in to police.
A large part of the town was shut down after police were called to the Waipukurau Holiday Park just after 7.30am following reports that a person pointed a gun at a man and then drove to a house in Mackie St.
The Armed Offenders Squad searched the house and surrounding properties and checked a number of other houses in the region as they tried to find the man.
No shots were fired and no-one was injured.
The man turned up at the Waipukurau Police Station just after 1pm. No decision has been made on what charges he may face.
