Hawke’s Bay fire: Police investigating ‘suspicious’ blaze on Geddis Avenue

Hawke’s Bay police are investigating a suspicious fire at a residential address on Geddis Ave in Maraenui, Napier overnight.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand arrived at the scene at 2.07am and the blaze was “fully involved”.

Two fire trucks attended and the fire was under control by 2.18am, a spokesperson said.

Police were called to the fire at 1.45am and said a guard was put in place overnight.

“Police will be conducting a scene examination at the address today, alongside Fire and Emergency New Zealand.

“If anyone has information which could assist our inquiries, they should contact police via 105 and quote event number P061072109,” a police spokesperson said.

“Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.”
