Wellington Free Ambulance is searching Wairarapa for some little ambulances missing in action.
One hundred small ambulance donation boxes were put out into the Wellington, Wairarapa and Kapiti communities about five years ago but some have not made the return journey.
"We know that people in Wellington, Kapiti and Wairarapa are very generous," said Wellington Free Ambulance chief executive Diana Crossan. "Some time ago, Wellington Free Ambulance put special ambulance donation boxes on to a number of business counters to raise money, but sadly a few have not come back.
"As we are a not-for-profit organisation, we rely heavily on financial help from the public.
"The people in Wellington, Kapiti and Wairarapa are very fortunate. They have a locally-owned and operated ambulance service, unlike the rest of the country which is served by one big provider. WFA would really appreciate it if people could keep an eye out for these little ambulances."
