A 37-year-old woman may have been lying dead inside her home for up to three weeks, police say.
She was discovered last night by a concerned neighbour.
It is believed she kept to herself and lived alone with two cats in the Housing New Zealand flat on Duke St, Hastings.
Police were called to the scene about 8pm to investigate the sudden death.
A post-mortem examination was being carried out to determine her identity and cause of death.
