A 28-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman in his car while it was parked in the Hastings Countdown carpark last night.
The alleged attack happened about 8.50pm. When the woman walked passed the alleged offender grabbed her and dragged her into his 2008 silver Toyota Avensis saloon vehicle, where he sexually assaulted her, police say.
The man appeared in court today.
Police investigating the sexual assault want to speak to anyone who was in the area when the crime was committed. They also asked members of the public who may have seen the victim, alleged offender or his vehicle to come forward.
