Hardware issues crash Trade Me

Auction website Trade Me crashed for several hours last night following "significant hardware problems".

The website's disaster recovery procedures had to be implemented after "some issues...that affected our database clustering software at one of our data centres", the "tired" Trade Me technical team announced on the site at 12.45am today.

The site experienced an outage at 6.55pm which lasted 15 minutes, but was down again between 9.05pm and 11.50pm.

All auctions affected by the outage would be extended by 24 hours, the company said.
