STERN competition will be the order of the day for the 2015 Wairarapa sports awards.

The finalists for each of the 13 categories were announced last week and even a cursory look at the credentials of those who made the cut leaves the clear impression nothing can be taken for granted in any of them.

Public participation in the voting process is expected to be huge and can be done via a form which will be published by the major sponsors of the event, the Wairarapa Times-Age, through until May 15.

And the winners will be announced at a special function to be held at the Copthorne Hotel and Resort on June 3, tickets for which are now on sale.

Winners of each category automatically become finalists for the supreme champion award, won last year by kickboxer Zane Hopman.
