Harcourts overpowered Kapiti 73-35 in their regional superleague netball match played at the Genesis Recreation Centre, in Masterton, on Saturday.
A big win to Harcourts was always anticipated and the challenge for them was to keep the scoreboard ticking over even when personnel and positional changes were made.
Player-coach Kelly Sargent was pleased with the overall standard of play although she said there were occasions when the movement of the ball through the court wasn't as fluent as it might have been.
"We did have some issues with the timing of the pass but, generally, there was a good rhythm about the way we played and we were never really in any trouble," she said.
Goal keep Te Ata Phillips had a splendid game for Harcourts on defence, turning over possession on numerous occasions with well-timed tips and intercepts and usual shoot Geraldine Carroll made an excellent fist of the wing attack position.
There was an encouraging effort too from Waimarama Phillips at goal shoot.
The win by Harcourts means they have now won three of four superleague games and they remain in contention for promotion to the A division of the competition.
Newcomers Pioneer Blue picked up their second win in Netball Wairarapa's premier one series when they edged out Carterton Sports Arena by just the one goal, 39 to 38, in the latest round of matches played at the Genesis Recreation Centre on Thursday and Friday nights. Wairarapa College A scored a surprisingly comfortable 48-34 win over Kuranui College and Gladstone All Blacks held out by a determined St Matthew's Collegiate 38-34.
The other premier one game saw a Fagan Motors Hot Shots team cut down by sickness default to Celtic
