A search was under way today for two Auckland men overdue from a fishing trip in the Waitemata Harbour, the Coastguard said.
The men, who had set off in a 6m Fyran aluminium runabout with a dark blue canopy, were believed to be have gone fishing in the upper reaches of the harbour.
But they might also have ventured out to Motuihe or Rangitoto islands.
They were last seen at 7pm yesterday and one of the men rang his wife by mobile phone to confirm that he would be home by 1am today.
The men were understood to be well equipped with a marine radio, life jackets and warm clothing.
Both the Coastguard and police were involved in the search.
