Current Wairarapa Junior Sports Personality of the Year, Lisa Hansen of Carterton will face a demanding schedule at the national junior swimming championships to be held at the Kilbirnie Aquatic Centre in Wellington this coming weekend.
She qualified to swim in 12 events but after consultation with coach Russell Geange has decided to restrict her involvement to the nine in which she has maintained a top 10 New Zealand ranking this season.
Hansen, 11, will contest the 11yrs girls 100m butterfly, 200m backstroke, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 100m backstroke, 50m backstroke, 200m individual medley and 50m freestyle.
Also representing Wairarapa at the championships after attaining qualifying standards set by Swimming New Zealand will be Jamie Holmes, Sammy Holmes and Jaimee Rangi
Jamie Holmes 12, from the Masterton club, will contest two events, the 12yrs boys 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly..
His younger brother Sammy Holmes 10, also from the Masterton club, will be just as busy as Hansen. He will race in the 10yrs and under boys 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 100m backstroke, 200m individual medley, 200m backstroke, 200m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle.
Jaimee Rangi,8, from Carterton club, is the youngest member of the Wairarapa squad and will be competing for the very first time at national level. In fact, to qualify for competition of this nature is an achievement in itself for one so young. She will contest the 10yrs and under girls 50m butterfly and 100m breaststroke.
