A hang glider has been injured after crashing into hills near Pakiri Beach, north of Auckland.
The man suffered moderate injuries and was taken to North Shore Hospital for treatment, a St John spokeswoman said.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 2.35pm.
The police said St John Ambulance had asked firefighters to attend first, "regarding a glider that had crashed into the face of a hill - patient with chest injuries".
A Fire Service spokeswoman said, "We've got a crew administering first aid and awaiting ambulance. The patient is about 100m down a steepish bank. The crew are getting to work to bring him back up."
