Two men have taken off with cash, nine trays of cigarettes and confectionary after robbing a Waikato petrol station.
One was wielding a hammer when the pair entered the Gull in Whitikahu about 6.10pm last night and confronted three staffers.
The attendants were shaken by the ordeal but uninjured and have been offered victim support.
The alleged offenders were dressed completely in black, were wearing balavaclavas over their faces and were described as Maori, police say.
A late model 1990s silver hatch back - possibly a Mazda Familia - was seen in the area at the time and police want about any sightings of a car fitting that description.
