A Hamilton woman who went out while leaving her two toddlers at home alone in squalid conditions has pleaded guilty to two charges of abandoning her children.
The woman, who has been granted continued name suppression, appeared in the Hamilton District Court today where she faced two charges relating to abandoning a child under the age of 6.
Police were called to the woman's three-bedroom Dinsdale home on September 12 about 3.30am after neighbours reportedly heard the older boy crying outside.
Inside the house, police allegedly found the 11-month-old baby crying in a cot among a couple of RTD cans and a sealed condom packet.
The woman, who was supported by her mother and a relative in the public gallery, is to reappear on November 29 for sentencing.
The Herald understands the woman's children are in the care of a family member.
