An upgrade of Hamilton's drinking-water treatment plant could cost $26 million.
A report, due this month, puts the cost of ridding the city's water supply of taste and odour problems and providing for city growth at between $11 million and $49 million.
The Hamilton City Council has been told the recommended option to maintain the city's drinking-water rating under new standards will cost $26 million and give a much higher level of protection against algal toxins and water-borne bugs.
