Hamilton teenager has 'Top Model' night out

Hamilton teenager Joel Claydon was the envy of schoolboys all around the country after taking New Zealand's Next Top Model winner Danielle Hayes to his ball last night.

The 17-year-old Hamilton Boys' High School student was "starstruck" when his cousin Danielle agreed to accompany him to the school formal.

Danielle's mother Trina said the pair, who stand at 1.90cm and 1.83cm respectively, looked "like a pair of giraffes".

Trina said that the afterball had been cancelled in the wake of King's College student David Gaynor's death.

Trina said her daughter had flown back from a modelling assignment in Sydney to attend the ball and speak at a youth suicide conference in Rotorua.
