The man found fatally stabbed at a Hamilton home on Friday has been named.
He was Nigel Les McQueen, 46, of Hamilton.
Police found the Mr McQueen critically wounded at a home in the Hamilton suburb of Melville at about 5.45pm on Friday.
He died despite attempts by police and ambulance staff to resuscitate him.
"The exact cause of death will be determined by the Coroner in the near future however in consultation with him I can confirm the examination located a fatal stab wound," said Mr Page.
Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Page said police are carrying out forensic investigations on the home and a car found near-by.
"We're now focussed on reconstructing the events that led to Mr McQueen's death," Mr Page said.
